Spirit Fire Ministries

Welcome to Spirit Fire Ministries!!

Let me share with you a brief version of how my life became unshackled from drugs, crime and prison, How God took me from the prison to the pulpit. And made me a trophy of his Grace. My life was that of a person from an average middle class family. My mother was a telephone operator for GTE and a part-time waitress.  My father was a supervisor with the state highway department. My parents were hard-working people but spent very little time going to church although they took me on occasion. When I was eight years old I asked the Lord to come into my life during a children’s Sunday school class. I experienced the love of God and felt close to God at the time. As I grew older my commitment to God began to decrease.  I was swayed by the world’s influence.          Just before turning seventeen, I made a decision that would cost me dearly.  I smoked some Marijuana with a group of teenagers behind the neighborhood bowling alley.  Association with the wrong crowd led to making many wrong choices and my young, precious life began slipping away. I was hooked for the next eight years. I allowed Satan to rob me of the prime years of my life.   My life resembled that of many other drug addicts it was no good. Trouble came my way and things went down hill.  I lost my driver's license three times.  I started dealing drugs to support my habit, and committing petty crimes. My body paid a heavy price as it was abused from the drug life. Marijuana took the biggest toll on me damaging my lungs. Using people became a habit for my own means of gain, and life came to a low as I found myself stealing from my own mother. One day alone in my bedroom, I cried out to God in desperation asking Him to help me, he would soon answer that prayer. Life in the drug world went on. In the spring of 84, a man robbed me during a drug deal.  Furious and full of drugs, I proceeded to gain information from an informant as of his whereabouts. After finding his apartment I crashed through the door to show him who was the boss with a 32 automatic in hand, after threatening to kill the inhabitants I fired two shots, but no one was hurt. One of the individuals at the scene called the police while hiding in the back room. They soon surrounded the building outside and were waiting downstairs when I dashed out.  They arrested me and charged me with four felonies.
My life would soon change forever.  While waiting to be bonded out of the county jail, the greatest experience of my life took place.  A man there was holding Bible studies in his cell.  He told me that Jesus could change my life. That night in my cell my life flashed before me. Facing the thought of going to prison I began to feel empty inside; I had no peace or joy.  I felt very sorry for all the wrong things I had done in my life.

Then I remembered the experience I had when I was eight years old.  I fell to my knees and began to cry out for Gods forgiveness and for Jesus Christ to come into my life once again. At that moment, I experienced a divine encounter with the Son of God! Jesus Christ.  I didn't physically see Jesus but his presence was in the cell with me. I felt close to God but this time I was miraculously healed, my lungs filled up with a breath of air that was crisp and clean. They felt new and healed.  My entire body was refreshed and rejuvenated with the healing touch of Jesus. My mind was clear, and it was as though a cloud had been swept away.  I saw my life through different eyes.  I saw sin for what it truly was.  I saw the necessity of having & knowing a Savior. I once again felt close to Jesus as I did when I was a child. I no longer saw life through drug-dimmed eyes. I stood there with tears streaming down my cheeks in a bliss of joy, rejoicing in what God had done for me. I later discovered that I no longer had a desire for drugs or the old way of life.  My desires had mysteriously changed and now I wanted to learn more about this Jesus that had worked miracles in my body, mind, and spirit.  Released on bond, six months would pass before my court date; and though I was afraid, I knew Jesus was with me and that he truly was real and merciful and loved me more than I could understand.  The word of God is true when it says you reap what you sow. Even though, I had received forgiveness through Christ. My old way of life had cost me dearly.  On Sept. 26, 1984, I was convicted on two felony counts carrying two, five-year sentences running concurrently. Sitting on the bus headed to the Missouri state prison system it seemed as though life had come to an end. The wrong decision I had made at age 16 had made me a prisoner in the world's prison system. While in prison I did not give up on God. My commitment to Christ grew deeper and my walk with God grew closer. Jesus Christ was my closest friend in prison. He was my greatest strength during my 18 months of incarceration. During those months I experienced many miraculous encounters that could only be explained by a true and living God watching over me. On March 7, 1986, I was released on parole--a free man both spiritually and physically.  Even before leaving the prison, God had called me to come back to the prisons and preach the gospel. Now it was up to me to answer that call. I ran from the call for several years but finally gave in to God.  When I did great things began to happen. I married to a fine Christian wife, Jeanie Marie. We have two beautiful children, Zechariah and Renee. In May 1995 I graduated from Bible College with a B.A. degree in Bible. I received my ordination to minister in March of 1997.  In the past 18 years God has blessed us to travel & minister throughout the Midwest preaching the gospel and sharing my story in prisons, Jails, rehab centers, youth groups, and in local churches, as well as working in Teen Challenge and pasturing two churches for short terms. We’ve been privileged to minister to thousands of hurting souls who have received Christ as their savior, healing in their minds & bodies and the shackles of sin broken in their lives. In the ministry the Lord has given us, we always testify,  preach, and sing of the goodness of Jesus Christ and His healing and delivering power.

It is a joy to travel on the evangelistic field seeing God touch the lives of those who need him so desperately. I give all the glory to God for these achievements and successes. If we put our trust in Him, you to can become a trophy of Gods grace. God is faithful, and He is able to change our lives and make them beautiful.
“Remember crime doesn’t pay. In the long run you will pay, but a life that’s lived serving Jesus Christ has eternal rewards that are out of this world”.  If you are looking for answers to the problems in your life and have a Bible with you, turn and read these passages John Chap. 3 verse 16, Romans Chapter 3 verse 23, Romans Chapter 5 verse 12, and Romans Chapter 10 verse 9-13.  You will find that giving your life to Christ will be the beginning to finding those answers.   If you’re in need of someone to forgive you, someone to break the shackles of sin in your life, someone to love you with no conditions, Jesus is the only one who can.  If that’s you, friend prayer with me right now.

Jesus, I believe you’re the Son of God, and you paid the price for my sins. I know I am a sinful person. Forgive me right now of all the wrongs I ever committed against God and change my life. Cleanse me with your sinless blood and make me a new creation in you CHRIST JESUS.  I need new direction; guide me and be the Lord of my life. Fill me with your Holy Spirit that I might be a bold witness for you. Thank you, Jesus, for your forgiveness, for your healing, and for giving me freedom. Amen.
